Interview with a local business: Jungle in Willunga

Nick van Vliet presents a series of interviews with local businesses in the Willunga, McLaren Vale, Mount Compass & surrounding areas.

Nick visits Jungle in Willunga and meets owner, Lorraine Poole. Jungle in Willunga (formerly Fern Forest Nursery) specialises in bamboo, palms and tropical plants ideal for Adelaide conditions.

Business Name: Jungle in Willunga

Our main thing is tame, non-invasive bamboo… We offer this opportunity for families to come and play in the garden. Little kids love it – they go on a jungle hunt for wild animals or they play in the climbing net.

What is your elevator statement?
We aim to give everyone a great experience of a plant nursery in Willunga.

What are some of the secrets you like to share with interstate visitors and tourists when they stop in?
I love Anthony’s Friday night cellar door behind Willunga Gallery in the High St. It’s fun! It just operates on Friday night, 5 – 10pm.

Why did you choose Willunga to set up the business?
Willunga is so cool. You’ve got the beach, you’ve got the wineries, you’ve got culture because of the wineries. It’s beautiful. I love it! There’s a really good community attitude in Willunga.

Next time you are in Willunga be sure to visit Lorraine at Jungle in Willunga.
