Your Local, Cherry Gardens: A Chat with Valerie Timms

Cherry Gardens is a hidden gem that captures the essence of the Hills—a perfect blend of nature and community. We sat down with Valerie Timms to delve into the Hills region, unveiling the secrets that make this locale special. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Valerie is a well-known face in the Adelaide Hills community.

How do you foresee the Adelaide Hills (rural) real estate market performing over the next five years?

Over the next five years, I expect Cherry Gardens and neighbouring areas to continue growing in popularity. Families are increasingly seeking more space, a closer connection to nature, a strong sense of community, and a more self-sufficient lifestyle. Adelaide Hills perfectly aligns with these desires, making it a promising market for both buyers and sellers.

What advice do you have for homeowners looking to sell their property in the area?

Presentation is everything. The earlier you involve your agent for advice, the better. We can guide you on focusing efforts to increase your sale price and decrease your days on the market. Local experience plays a crucial role in this process, and early collaboration can save you both time and money.

What tips would you offer to prospective buyers looking to invest in the Hills region?

Be proactive. Register with OC First, attend the initial open house, and express your interest early. Some sellers prefer a swift transaction, and a strong, early offer can make you stand out and potentially secure your dream home without going through a prolonged auction or best offers campaign.

Can you share some underrated neighbourhoods that buyers might not be aware of but are worth considering?

One hidden gem worth exploring is Ironbank. Tucked away and somewhat unknown, this area boasts lifestyle acreage just minutes from Stirling and the Freeway.

As a local expert, what are some must-visit places you recommend in Adelaide Hills rural?

One of my favourites is Joan’s Pantry—a must for a delightful Sunday morning breakfast. Situated in an ideal spot for families, across the road from the Hawthorndene Oval and right next to Apex Park, Joan’s offers a beautiful setting for families to grab a coffee as they head to the playground or to sit in for a meal.

What’s your driving force in the real estate game, keeping that fire alive when it comes to helping folks buy and sell houses in the Hills?

As an Adelaide Hills dweller, there’s immense joy in welcoming home buyers to their own slice of nature. Helping individuals find their perfect home in this picturesque region is a passion rooted in my love for this community.
