SMALL DIGNITIES MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE

Dignity. It’s a simple word, yet extremely powerful. Share the Dignity is a homeless women’s charity that aims to share empowerment to women experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and period poverty. The charity aims to ensure everyone is “afforded the dignity so many of us take for granted”.

ITS IN THE BAG national Christmas campaign started when the charity realised that women in crisis tend to put the needs of others before themselves, sacrificing their own dignity to lift others up around them all year round. For many women these gifts will be the only present they receive, showing them that people care and are here for support. Each bag contains essential items such as; pads, tampons, personal hygiene products and everyday luxuries. Every bag is a small dignity that makes a big difference, showing each individual that they matter because “everyone deserves to feel that way”.

WHAT OC ARE DOING TO HELP SPREAD DIGNITY

This year Ouwens Casserly recognised the importance of lifting others up and giving back to those in need during this Christmas period. Instead of having our annual Kris Kringle, every OC employee will buy an item or two in support of Share the Dignity’s campaign and will be making up complete bags on both Thursday the 5^th and Saturday the 7^th of December to donate.

HOW YOU CAN DONATE

Every donation, however big or small matters, which is why Ouwens Casserly Real Estate has a donation box in the front reception area at each of our 5 offices or your local Bunnings Warehouse for anyone who wants to be involved and help share the dignity. Making someone feel special this Christmas is simple and through these donations you can help make a big difference in a woman’s life.

This year, our Property Management team received generous donations from one of their plumbing suppliers instead of their usual Christmas gifts. This act of kindness shows the ripple effect that spreading the word of compassion can have in benefiting those most vulnerable.

Everyone has the ability to make a difference. A small act of kindness contributes to making sure that women all around Australia are given the opportunity to feel a sense of dignity at a time when they need it most.
