In Episode 28, Nick visits Hastwell & Lightfoot and meets Mark Hastwell. Hastwell & Lightfoot is located in the world-renowned McLaren Vale region of South Australia. Established in 1988, they produce premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, Grenache, Barbera, Vermentino and Fiano from their 40 acres of vineyard.

We certainly have a range of grapes from the normal Shiraz and Cabernet to the more exotic… We have quite a range now.”
What is your elevator statement?
“Wines made for eating.” We believe wine should be drunk responsibly and what better way than to have some food with it all the way through. Different wines, different food.
What are some of the secrets you like to share with interstate visitors and tourists when they stop in?
You can’t go past The Cube, that’s an internationally famous icon already.
Why did you choose McLaren Vale to set up the business?
It was actually 30 years ago, I was down having a BBQ with an old mate of mine and we took a little walk after lunch and we spied some empty land. After a while and a few bottles of wine, we managed to buy the land.
