Ouwens Casserly Real Estate has well and truly got into the Christmas spirit, donating dozens of personal care and sanitary items to women and girls in need as part of the Share the Dignity program.

Share the Dignity is a national not-for-profit organisation that provides sanitary items to women and girls experiencing period poverty.

The Ouwens Casserly (OC) Community Committee has donated 76 Bags (68 Women’s bags & 8 Mums & Bubs bags) of toiletries, sanitary items and other products as part of Share the Dignity’s It’s In the Bag campaign.

“Our teams throughout South Australia have really got behind this drive, donating all the items needed for the individual bags and absolutely smashing the targets we set for them,” said Sally Johns.

“The campaign is all about making this time of year a little better for women with very little in the way of anything, and I mean anything. The campaign started to help provide girls and women with a little dignity by helping to provide them with sanitary products when they didn’t have enough money to buy them for themselves.

We are talking about teenage girls who can’t go to school when they have a period because they don’t have pads or tampons, because putting food on the table is their parents’ higher priority. Imagine having to make that choice and then explaining that to your child.”

OC set a target of 32 bags across its six key locations, with staff rising to the challenge to donate a total 76 bags.

Each bag contains tampons or pads, deodorant, body wash, toothbrush and toothpaste and shampoo and conditioner, while additional items in the Mum & Bub bags include nappies, nappy rash cream, baby wipes and maternity pads. All bags are topped up with several additional luxury items just to make them that little bit extra special.

“A big thanks goes out to all of our team for embracing this charity and this opportunity and understanding how important it is for women and girls to experience such a fundamental dignity,” Sally said.
