Set well back from the road & providing a commanding façade, this grand, 1920's built sandstone and glazed brick return verandah Gentleman's Bungalow, offers an exciting opportunity to renovate & extend to your personal style. Amazingly, there have only ever been two owners since its' inception. Sited on approximately 2350 square metres, with an impressive 32.15 meter frontage, set behind a classic stone & decorative iron fence, including double gates opening to a concrete driveway and a pedestrian path leading to the wide, terrazzo verandah. The property offers a full size, north-south tennis court, 70's installed in-ground concrete swimming pool, original solid brick double garage with terracotta-tiled roof, large garden/tool shed & 3 rainwater tanks. From the moment you step inside this well-maintained residence, there is an instant feeling of grandeur, featuring beautiful character features which include decorative fireplaces, timber fretwork, timber wall mouldings, bay windows (box seating) and providing the perfect opportunity to polish the rich floorboards, protected by carpet over the years. On entry, the grand entrance foyer is surrounded by intricate timber fretwork, decorative timber wall mouldings & two sets of original leadlight sliding doors, opening to formal dining on the left and a formal lounge to the right. All rooms are generous in size and there is extensive storage, including a large pantry room with dumbwaiter to the wine cellar. The formal lounge offers a pleasant outlook over the garden & to the street, featuring a box bay window with padded bench seat, open fireplace with decorative painted timber mantlepiece (fireplace requires chimney sweep) & reverse-cycle split-system air-conditioning. Across the entrance foyer, the elegant formal dining room is fitted with a decommissioned gas fire (mains gas to be reconnected to become functional & service to heater recommended). The dining room also enjoys a garden & street outlook and leadlight feature door opening to the enclosed verandah to the western side of the home – a perfect home office providing separate access door to the driveway and there is another door opening from the dining into the walk-in pantry room. There are 4 bedrooms in total. The main bedroom provides double-glazed windows in the elegant bay window, with garden & street views and door to the east-facing sunroom – a perfect retreat/reading room or study. Both the main & bedroom 2 include a reverse-cycle split-system air-conditioner and built-in robes. The central main bathroom was renovated in the early 2000's & provides a deep relaxing spa bath, shower, vanity, heated lighting, separate toilet & storage cupboard. Excellent scope to open the rear of the home, starting from the eat-in kitchen, to provide sizeable, north-facing open plan living, if desired.
